The Knob

The Knob is a very nice little cabin perched up on a hill near Ashville. The property just like it looks in the photos. The deck is a great place to have coffee in the morning and and a relaxing soak in the hot tub in the evening. The cabin is close to all the fun things to do in Ashville. The only thing I would note is that you should arrive in the light, the road up to the cabin is a bit of an adventure! Overall a great stay!

The only criticism I would give is maybe some better signage showing where the house is located other than that it was a great place to stay while visiting Asheville.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at The Knob. It gave us the secluded mountain retreat we wanted! The cabin was as advertised in the photos and was well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. Our dog stayed with us, and she loved the outdoor deck spaces and walks along the mountain trails. Our only negative was the lack of a lawn or a fenced area for her. No big deal since we knew about that ahead of time.We had one minor maintenance issue, but the homeowner responded quickly and resolved our problem in a timely manner.The location of the property worked well for us during our stay. You can be at all the major attractions of the area within a half hour drive. The best part of staying at the Knob is breathing the fresh mountain air and enjoying the nature around you. We recommend arriving for the first time during daylight hours so that you can learn to navigate the drive up the mountain!

We loved staying at the knob for the weekend. My husband and I stayed here for the weekend after we dropped our daughter off at camp. It is a beautiful cabin and so private. We didn’t see another person or a car during our stay. It was also a quick drive from Asheville and Black Mountain. A great weekend away! We will be back because I missed seeing the bears!

Our family loved our stay at The Knob! Perfect space for a family and the location was exactly what we were looking for--close enough for easy access to Asheville and nearby attractions, but also away from all the hustle and bustle. The kids loved sitting in the hot tub each evening after our adventures and we even got to see a black bear up close from the porch one morning! Overall a great experience from start to finish and we wouldn't hesitate to book again if our travels bring us back to the area.

Overall a nice stay, we enjoyed our time at the Knob! We were expecting a view of the mountains from the porch but during the summer with leaves on the trees around the house you cannot see the mountains. We ended up watching the sunset elsewhere. Besides that, great stay!

Just as described. Well equipped kitchen. Everything is new and modern while maintaining a cozy cabin feel. Very secluded near the top of the mountain road. We had a pickup truck and glad we did to navigate the gravel road. Not too bad, just narrow. I’d imagine it’s more challenging when colder. We enjoyed wine and the hot tub on the patio every evening. We hiked and did breweries during the day and couldn’t wait to get back to the cabin each day. Just so relaxing We hope to be back again next year! Host very responsive.

We absolutely loved The Knob. It was just as advertised. We had no trouble finding it using Apple Maps it is a one lane gravel road but nothing crazy steep and we never had any issues. Basically as you wind up the mountain there is a cabin every 1/4 of a mile or so. You can see other cabins but it’s very peaceful. Lots of birds and bees and wildflowers. We saw a family of 4 bears the second night! The cabin is very well stocked and has lots of storage and seating. Loved the deck. If you use the hot tub set it to the temp you want ASAP as it does take a while to heat up. Takes about 10 minutes to get down the mountain and to 70 (the main road) but from there Black Mountain and all its great shops and restaurants is about 10 minutes, Asheville/Biltmore about 20. Great spot to explore everything. Make sure to get breakfast at Blue Ridge Biscuit Co. Only had one minor issue (mixup with wifi password) and the company responded quickly and then the owner called himself and made sure we got logged in and let us know we could call if any issues.

We enjoyed the Knob tremendously! Our GPS took us directly there. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, and simply beautiful! The deck and hot tub was wonderful! It's also important to note the roads up to the house needs paving. I have a Camry and it made the trip okay, but it really was very scary because of the deep holes and brick boulders in the way. It took some navigating which was stressful. The house itself is absolutely lovely!!

We enjoyed our weekend in this home. It was beautiful and well thought out. It was much larger than we anticipated, so we didn’t even need to utilize the lower level or the loft. We had everything we needed on the main level. The back deck was large and had a great view, even in the dead of winter. The hot tub was ready to go. The hosts had thought out every possible instruction needed, so we had no questions and didn’t need to communicate about anything while we stayed. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were nice! There is no cell signal (which we were warned about,) but the internet works as soon as you step inside the house. Recommend 4WD for winter, but getting to the privacy and quiet this home offers is well worth it.

My boyfriend and I rented this cabin for a relaxing getaway for my birthday. We rented a car, as opposed to an SUV, with no issues getting up the steep driveway. We arrived before dark, which was helpful, so we knew how to navigate the rocking slope. Once you get to the top, we were greeted by the most beautiful place! Pictures just don't do it justice. The house is clean, and modern, with simple decor and a place you can call home for a couple of days. We appreciated the ceiling fan in the master bedroom and I loved the full-length mirror! Although we mostly utilized the main level and loft area, the basement was just as beautiful! The wrap-around deck with the hot tub was my favorite part. We enjoyed our mornings with coffee, our afternoons with an adult beverage, and the evenings in the hot tub, all with the view of mountains and nature. Gorgeous! The loft area inside had a huge comfy sofa where we relaxed and enjoyed Netflix after a full day of sightseeing. You cannot go wrong with this property!

The cabin was just as described. The porch was perfect for morning coffee and evening wine - complete with great views. Secluded but close to enough to everything. We hiked, ziplined, and kayaked. There was lots of wildlife. We were visited by a bear, wild turkeys, a family of rabbits, and a muskrat. It was the perfect getaway for me and my husband. Next time we’re bringing the whole family. We made it up the drive in a car but I would recommend at least a crossover or small SUV in the summer.

Beautiful cabin, nicely situated on a quiet mountain. The kitchen was well stocked, furniture was very comfortable! The only issue we had was with trying to get ahold of someone on the weekend when we were having issues with the hot tub. It was a little over 4 hours before I got a brief response after multiple calls and texts. Otherwise lovely stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Knob! Tucked away up on a wooded mountainside, and far from neighbors. Recently built and very clean. The dual shower head in the bathroom was great, enjoyed the hot tub also, overlooking the woods. We’re allergic to smells, and when we got there, found the sheets were washed with a perfumed soap. We texted the owner and were impressed - he responded immediately, and brought us over new cotton sheets from Target, that day! The road up to the Knob is a somewhat rutted road and a bit of a climb, but you don’t need an all-wheel drive. Between the owner and Carolina Mornings, the communication and response were superb. We really enjoyed our stay here at The Knob. My brother and I really enjoyed the loft and board games, my parents enjoyed sitting on the deck and reading. We all loved the hot tub. We went to many places like Charles Owen Park, Biltmore, Dinner ins Asheville, and Black Mountain. Surprisingly, on our first morning, we saw a black bear just strolling on the road. We loved our stay here.

Three of us come to stay at the cabin. The trip up the driveway sounds like everyone else's trip. The cabin was lovely. A place that we enjoyed for breakfast was the Blue Ride Dining Room at the Grove Park Inn. The views are good. The price is a bit high but worth it. You can also stroll through the hotel to get some background history. We saw two black bear cubs on the way up the driveway today.

We saw a mama bear and two cubs. She left the cubs in the woods while she looked for food around the cabin. Eventually, the cubs came into the open yard where we could get a good view of them. This cabin was very nice, new, and well designed. The deck was fantastic with great views to enjoy while relaxing in the hot tub. We saw deer, plenty of turkeys, and a black bear! Great proximity to Asheville, Black Mountain, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and more. Some small details could improve the experience (soap dishes in bathrooms, basic spices in kitchen, trash receptacle for when bags get full, and new silverware, plates, and glasses), but overall we’d definitely stay again. As the host mentions, don’t rely on GPS. When you turn on the road where the cabin is located, GPS will tell you you’ve arrived at the bottom of the hill and you have not. Just keep driving up the mountain—you’ll pass two houses (not including the tiny house) and then you’ll find the Knob. The location was PERFECT—it was so quiet and we didn’t see a soul. Lots of turkeys so be prepared to be entertained! There’s no closet space but ample hooks available so just be prepared to not hang up clothes. Kitchen is nicely stocked so I was able to cook meals without hassle; the house is beautiful and the back deck is perfection with a lovely sunrise view. I will definitely be back to stay again!

We enjoyed staying at The Knob. Directions to the property needs adjustment. ie. In the directions it is more than 350’ to the cabin once you turn into the gate. Should be a marker at the gate stating “this way to the knob” or something apropos. Should state it’s better to arrive before dark.

Well stocked kitchen. Loved the Kitchen, movie room upstairs, and the deck. This is a place to open the doors and spend time outside with nature. The only issue is the downstairs bed, it needs a new mattress. We slept two nights on it and then had to move to the upstairs couch to save our backs.

The house was as advertised. Everything was very clean. The hot tub had some mold on the inside. Our sedan made it up the mountain but was definitely a difficult drive up. Very steep and hard to see when you’re in a low car. I would not do it with a car again, you need an suv or truck. The property is beautiful and we loved the view from the deck.

Beautiful home. Beautiful view from the porches. This home is so high on the mountain that a bad view is impossible. But the only issue I had was trouble with the lockbox and keypad instructions were very in-direct. Need to be more clear about key entry and how exactly it works. I wasn’t told In any way or in any of the instructions did it say that the lockbox is holding the key and it isn’t just used to unlock the front door itself. Also you do not have service anywhere near the home, so when you are driving on arrival day make sure you screenshot and already have all the instructions and check in protocols ready and loaded. If you do not you will have to drive back down the mountain and halfway into to town to be able to load your phone and get the rest of the instructions. Other than the check in and lockbox process this stay was extremely easy and relaxing. This place is all you need and more. Very clean and updated inside. Enjoyed our relaxing days at The Knob. Lovely clean cabin, just as described. Even saw a turkey and bear during our stay! We enjoyed Swannanoa and Asheville, as well as amazing sunsets. Thank you for sharing this beautiful property!

CAUTION: Most importantly, the Host/Owner was dishonest and insulting. He knew that the internet was not working for over a week, but did not communicate that to us prior to our stay. We found out upon arrival in the evening, once it was too late. We were unable to work and there was no cell phone reception to make phone calls or to check for alternatives. Additional items to note: The sheets smelled like mildew, the bed is uncomfortable and noisy, and the fridge is noisy making it difficult to sleep at night because the main bedroom is off of the kitchen. Also, the area is being rebuilt, and there was noisy heavy machinery and trucks going up and down the mountain road in front of the house during our stay, which was less than peaceful. If I had to recommend this place, it would be for bachelor parties but not for families.

Hey Scott, Thank you for your review, and we apologize for any issues experienced at the home during your stay. Regarding the Wifi for the home, this was temporarily out-of-service and we apologize that it disrupted your visit with us. Following the flooding that took place this past Fall in Western North Carolina there is repairs and construction occurring throughout the area, and we apologize if this disturbed the natural beauty of the cabin. We hope you otherwise had an enjoyable stay with us in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and thank you again for your review!
