Description Description
Situated in the private mountain enclave of Heart Ridge Cove in the Burnsville/Mars Hill area, Cubs Den Cabin is a newly built, upscale retreat set on more than 100 secluded acres. The property features winding timber trails and breathtaking long-range views—including Mt. Mitchell and Craggy Pinnacle—from various scenic overlooks throughout the cove. Designed for comfort and connection, this log-style cabin includes two spacious master suites, providing the perfect blend of rustic elegance and modern convenience.

On the main floor, you’ll find a light-filled kitchen and dining area with a handcrafted island made from local oak. Step outside to a covered deck furnished with four classic log rocking chairs—an ideal place to sip your morning coffee as mist weaves through the mountains. A gas grill and outdoor fire pit invite evenings of grilling, storytelling, or marshmallow roasting beneath the stars. Upstairs, a cozy loft features twin bunk beds, ideal for children or extra guests. Both king-suite bedrooms include private en suite bathrooms, each with a clawfoot soaking tub and walk-in shower for a luxurious spa-like experience.

Although nestled in peaceful seclusion, Cubs Den is conveniently located just 13 minutes from Mars Hill University and the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theater. Downtown Burnsville is only 15 minutes away and offers charming shops, eateries, and a thriving local arts scene. Be sure to catch a show at the historic Parkway Playhouse or visit the celebrated Penland School of Craft and its gallery. Also nearby are the Stables at Bucktown and The Preserve at Wolf Laurel, where guests can enjoy guided trail rides, lessons, and arena experiences for young riders.

Just 20 minutes away, Weaverville provides another delightful day trip, known for its top-rated restaurants like The Twisted Laurel and Stoney Knob Café, plus locally loved spots like the Well-Bred Bakery. Enjoy the town’s breweries, parks, and seasonal festivals. For outdoor adventurers, Navitat Canopy Adventures in Barnardsville is only 25 minutes from the cabin, offering high-elevation ziplining by day, sunset, or under the stars. Or head 30 minutes to Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area for swimming, tubing, and fishing along a beautiful stretch of mountain river.

An hour south lies Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi, with panoramic views and extensive hiking trails throughout its State Park. The Burnsville region also boasts other natural wonders, such as Roaring Fork Creek Falls—a short, family-friendly hike to a 100-foot cascade—and the scenic Blue Ridge Pinnacle & Rocky Knob trail, a moderate hike through flower-filled forests to sweeping mountain vistas.

When winter rolls in, you’re just 15 minutes from Hatley Pointe Ski Resort (formerly Wolf Ridge), which offers both skiing and dining at its on-site restaurant, Smoke and Timber.

A visit to this region wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Asheville, just a 30-minute drive from the cabin. Dubbed the "Paris of the South," Asheville is known for its vibrant River Arts District, the beautiful North Carolina Arboretum, and the famous Biltmore Estate. The city also features a wide array of award-winning restaurants, cafes, and breweries for every taste.

Traveling with friends or family? You can also book the nearby Deerfield, an identical luxury cabin just steps away. Heart Ridge Cove is more than just a name; it reflects the heart-shaped layout of the land and the love and care poured into creating a peaceful, elevated guest experience. Come and experience the warmth, beauty, and serenity of this special mountain retreat. We hope you’ll make memories and grow with us in Heart Ridge Cove.

Hidden Gem of a Cabin
We stayed at the Cubs Den cabin. This cabin was absolutely a hidden gem. It is new construction and decorated elegantly, not your usual rental furniture but rather very fine and also comfortable furniture. We stay at a lot of AirBnB and the like and we know good places when we see them. This is one of them. The pictures don't do justice to the overall experience you will have when you walk in and smell the fresh cedar wood interior. We saw deer and turkeys every day and that was a delight. We used the fire pit, with the provided cut wood, every night for smore's and were able to immerse in the night since there are only 2 cabins in this property. The property is secure by a gate even though there are only 2 cabins. The cabin is very private and you don't see the second cabin. The rocking chairs on the deck were lovely for morning coffee and to greet the fresh air. The kitchen had everything we needed and beyond. The indoor fireplace was easy to use with one push button (we are from Florida so easy to operate fireplaces are a big deal to us). The entire cabin has many unique decorative accessories that look like custom made (I won't spoil it for you). The check-in process was very straightforward with digital codes provided to us in advance. We did not have any issues so we did not have the need to test their customer service response. The cabin was very clean, a better description would be spotless. The beds were very comfortable with very nice high end pillows. Easy access from the road for any weather. The cabin is close to downtown Burnsville (about 10 minutes), which has charming shops and restaurants. We loved the Pacifico Seafood & Grill, which is Mexican but also has many other great American dishes. They also have Pits and Grits for the BBQ lovers. Snap Dragons was good too. We were not disappointed. Oh, and don't forget the Homeplace Brewery, which when we visited had live music Thursday-Saturday. There are also couple of grocery stores (Ingles, which is a little more expensive and Fred's - and you can grill at the cabin since it has a gas grill). It was a very fun town, great for stopping for food after a long day exploring the woods and waterfalls and on the way to the cabin. In terms of waterfalls, visit the Setrock Creek Falls Trail, this was our favorite and super beautiful and peaceful. Bring a sub from the Subway shop near downtown Burnsville, on the way to the waterfall. There were other waterfalls in the area, you can stop at the visitor's center in downtown Burnsville and they will give you maps and tons of options in the area. We also went to Little Switzerland and stopped at the Little Switzerland Inn and had gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge mountains and you can have have lunch there and a beer or ice cream in their rocking chairs overlooking the panorama. Overall this was an amazing experience and highly recommend it. We are world travelers and we were very impressed with this majestic cabin. We can't wait to go back in the fall to see the colors.

Amazingly Clean
Kiki did an amazing job cleaning the home we rented for 4 day 3 night stay. It was beautiful inside and out, it made the stay even more remarkable watching it snow. Wild life was absolutely breathtaking. I would definitely recommend.

Just Like the Pictures
Cubs Den was just as presented by the pictures and description. Clean, well-organized, great location and quiet. If you enjoy hiking, you can go out the cabin door and find miles of trails (old logging roads) with 500 and 600 ft of elevation, great views, and you will see no other people.

Spotless Cabin & Comfortable
We had a great stay at this cabin. The property manager did an excellent job of communicating before and during our stay. Cabin was spotless, beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the beautiful view and well-equipped kitchen. Did not see any satellite or cable for the TV, but it is a smart TV so remember/bring your logins for your favorite streaming apps. Location is definitely secluded but still close enough to Mars Hill and Weaverville. We enjoyed the Twisted Laurel in Weaverville for dinner one night. Asheville is a bit farther of a drive but still not too bad. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend.

Outstanding Cabin
The cabin was outstanding! Everything was modern and clean. The people in charge were friendly and helpful. They were in constant contact with us in case we needed anything. I would come back again and also recommend to a friend. This was our 40th Anniversary gift to ourselves.

Staying Through a Storm
My family met my husband and I at the Deerfield and Cub’s Den for a week of relaxation and meals and just hanging out. We enjoyed it so much. Despite the terrible storm that passed thru Asheville and all the devastation we were safe and dry. The cabins were equipped with flashlights and we had gas stoves so we could eat for a couple days just using a lighter to start the cooktop. Each cabin was so well appointed and throughly cared for and very clean. We had no complaints. I brought many things from home to use but when I arrived the cabin had everything we needed. We played games after dinner each night and one evening used the fire pit, what a wonderful experience we enjoyed. The only drawback was the driveway to the Cub’s Den, it is a bit tricky to navigate. You must put your vehicle in low gear (can’t stress that enough) and not be timid about picking up speed to make it to the top. But once there it was worth the efforts. This cabin has the best views. Our favorite aspect of the cabins was without a doubt the grand porches equipped with 4 rocking chairs and a large picnic table. Amazing! It was so quiet, we could hear things in the surroundings I’ve never had opportunity to hear before. My husband even had a small dear approach him without reservation and stand near him for a few minutes checking him out when in the driveway. (I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself) We visited Mt Mitchell and Grandfather mountain and explored Asheville a bit while men flyfished nearby streams. They want to return and do it again. For owners: we apologize for not complying with direction for departure. There was no water nor electric so we felt badly about leaving dishes. Please accept our regrets and feel free to reach out to us if necessary. And you were so kind to offer a tour of the property, you have a wonderful estate.

Excellent Place!
The only complaint I have is that when we were ready to relax in the evening we were unable to watch television - so just a heads up NO television, internet very off and on, other that that the place was excellent.
