Carolina Mornings Spotlight: A Summer Day at the Biltmore Estate Part I

A Day on the Estate: Part I
We've written before about the Biltmore, but with the summer heat at its peak and the flowers all abloom, the Estate is once again on our minds. Touring the house is, of course, a very popular Estate activity, but did you know that there are dozens of other opportunities for fun on the grounds? We've outlined a few of our favorites below!
Biking Around the Estate
Touring the grounds on a bicycle provides a whole new take on the beauty of the property. One of our absolute favorite ways to spend an early morning is to head over to Antler Village and rent a bike from the Bike Barn. Several options are available for rent - beach cruisers for paved paths, hybrids or mountain bikes, tandem bikes, and more! Slicing through the morning fog, catching peeks of deer, rabbits, owls, and other fauna, enjoying the cool morning air rushing through our hair - that is summertime bliss at its finest!

A Day with the Pups
While your four legged best friend cannot enter the home or many of the restaurants on the Estate, there is still loads to explore with Fido in tow! Of course strolling the gardens are a great way to absorb your daily quota of beauty, but did you know that the Estate has nearly 22 miles of hiking trails just waiting to be experienced? Stroll at your own pace through beautiful open meadows, vibrant green forests, and along the banks of the French Broad River. Click Here for a map of the trails and gardens!

Horseback Riding and Clay Shooting
If you're planning a day of fun on the Estate, why not do it just as the Vanderbilt family would have? Schedule a guided horseback ride on some of the beautiful trails on the grounds. You'll ride through pastures and shady, wooded paths on a horse that matches your experience level, all the while learning about the Estate and its history from your guide. Finish off the day by learning how to shoot clay targets with a knowledgeable and certified instructor!

Vista View LodgeStay Local
Having a home away from home in the area is key to fully enjoying all that the area has to offer. Carolina Mornings has dozens of gorgeous homes in and around the Asheville area, each one unique. Rainbow Ridge is an excellent choice for couples or small families, while Vista View Lodge is the natural choice for larger parties. Both are conveniently located just 15 minutes from the Estate!
