Description Description
Tara’s Treehouse is a secluded, eco-friendly retreat surrounded by mountain wildlife and pristine mountain views in Fairview, NC less than 20 minutes from the heart of downtown Asheville and Biltmore Estate. Designed by local Asheville husband and wife team architects Rusafova Markulis, to be intimate with nature; this home is officially registered on NC Modernist, making it the quintessential Asheville experience.

Nestled in a mature forest on the top of a 2-acre mountain estate, Tara’s Treehouse is also minutes from Hickory Nut Gap Farm, local cheese makers, bakeries, and brewers, making this the perfect Western NC adventure with proximity to award-winning restaurants and nightlife to meet the needs of all members of the family.

Those with an eye for design will appreciate the customized details at Tara's Treehouse, from the passive solar home site that provides sun in winter and shade in summer to the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that offers year-round discovery of seasonal views. Encouraging fluid movement from inside to out, the wrap-around deck places you in a paradise of ever-changing, undisturbed natural beauty, the perfect spot for an outdoor dining area and gas grill.

The fully-equipped kitchen at Tara's Treehouse will delight the chef in your group, plus there's a shuffleboard game table for a little after-dinner fun! Create a cozy ambiance with a wood fire that's wonderful for cuddling up and winding down, and enjoy your favorite shows on the living area's Smart TV with cable service and streaming channels (guests must use their own account for subscription services such as Netflix). Retire to the ultra-private upper level main suite and soak away your worries in the deep soak tub. Two bedrooms and a sleeper sofa on the main floor offer plenty of space for friends and family to get their rest. Bonus: each bedroom has its own TV!

If building a bonfire stokes your imagination, the above-ground fire pit is great for making the most of an evening. Dogs love it here too, especially taking a walk to explore the wooded trails and play area in the yard. Tara's Treehouse is a modern mountain sanctuary, where connection and discovery come naturally!

Important Property Notes
• 4WD/AWD Recommended in Winter
The driveway to Tara’s Treehouse is both steep and narrow. During the winter months and inclement weather, a 4WD/AWD vehicle is recommended to access this property and it is strongly recommended that you arrive during daylight hours. We also suggest backing out of the driveway when leaving the home, rather than using the narrow turnaround at the top. For the extra effort, however, you are rewarded with seclusion, beauty, and a lot of fun just getting there!
• Guests will need to supply their own firewood to make use of the wood fireplace and fire pit.
• Travel Insurance Recommended: Due to the location of this home, any inclement weather in winter may render it unreachable. We highly recommend guests consider travelers insurance for this property as there are no refunds for weather.

Property Cancellation Policy
Please note that this property’s Non-Refundable Period is 31 days prior to arrival. If your reservation is made within this period, it will be non-refundable from the time of booking. Cancellations are permitted outside of this period, per our vacation rental agreement. We encourage you to consider travel insurance to help protect your vacation investment against the unknown! Learn more about Travel Insurance here.

Mountain Discovery Pass
Each reservation comes complete with our exclusive Mountain Discovery Pass, which now includes a Biltmore Estate pass -- in addition to seasonal activities such as snow tubing, whitewater rafting, and skiing! This extremely valuable pass is a special gift from Carolina Mornings to our guests, and is not available anywhere else. Enjoy Asheville the way it is meant to be enjoyed, and let us spoil you with activities and the best customer service in Asheville!

. A very unique home with a beautiful view.
We had a lovely stay here. We especially enjoyed all the little walkways around the property. It was a short but sweet stay. And we had a perfect day at Biltmore. A very unique home with a beautiful view. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch and looking out at the mountains. And our two-year-old loved the frisbee, golf, & playground.

All the restaurants, foods, and the treehouse, were all amazing!
All the restaurants, foods, and the treehouse, were all amazing! You guys have put in a great effort for this treehouse. There are also entertaining games and places too! The view was excellent and the climate was fantastic. Everything here was worth the four to five-hour drive.

Excellent place perched on a very steep hillside!
Excellent place perched on a very steep hillside (crawling up the driveway is fun), and tucked away for much privacy. The wall of glass and the views were top-notch! We had a great time and this place definitely had the wow factor. Thank you!

Amazing Family Vacation
This was an amazing family vacation. Some people would say we were crazy for taking our one year + 1 week old to the mountains. But it was a truly memorable experience. We visited Grandfather Mountain, Chimney Rock + Hickory Nut Falls, and The Biltmore. For kids The Biltmore was lots of fun with the gardens, animals, and play area. Also please go to the Whistle Hop Brewery. Extremely kid friendly! Lots of play areas, and many delicious award winning brews! My mom doesn't like or drink beer but she even found one she liked! Great times.

Felt Like Tony Stark's (Iron Man) Mountain Home
This place was awesome. It was like staying in Tony Stark’s mountain house. The views were great, we did stay in January though. There is an Ingles close by and a great BBQ place. We really enjoyed our stay.

Hidden Gem
Tara's treehouse was absolutely fantastic! we came with a group of 8 and still had plenty of room. sleeping arrangements were perfect the uper master bedroom had some amazing views and the soaking tub was very relaxing. the other bedrooms were awesome for the other couples that came. the kitchen was stocked with all the utensils and cookware youd ever need. grocery stores are super close too! in fact everything exciting was super close. we came in February so it was very cold but the heaters and fireplace keeps the house the perfect temperature. the outdoor firplace is really nice to hangout and relax too. The drive up was a bit treacherous for us florida folks, one group had a toyota highlander and we had a jeep wrangler which we didnt even need to use 4 wheel drive. After you do the drive up 2 times its really not bad at all you just go slow. there is a flat place before the main driveway where you could park and walk up, but doing that with luggage would be very exhausting. the view was absolutely amazing! would definitely recommend to anyone! a hidden gem!

"Thank you so much for a perfect getaway - it is so hard to find somewhere that feels safe during the pandemic - absolutely perfect stay. Due to the pandemic, we wanted to be smart about travel (with three different households attending this family vacation). This location made us feel able to safely travel - different eating locations (all more than 6 feet apart), plenty of spaces to hang out inside and outside allowing us to ""cluster"" by household but still feel like we were together and have some sense of normalcy. Beautiful open space, great location, spectacular views. Also - with some people in our party who are VERY scared of heights, found the driveway very manageable. Last 0.8 miles were steep but totally doable - don't let that stop you! Your space allowed for a safe getaway and some much needed family time. We plan to come back! We will definitely be back!!"

"Stay was great! The place was spacious, clean and scenic. We did see bears so be careful leaving food and garbage out. The fire pit was a lovely touch. Thanks for a great stay."

"Wonderful times here - we saw a family of bears, heard hoot owls, and toured Asheville's many breweries. Used the fire pit and enjoyed the deck. Place was fabulous! Will definitely come back, place and area was just lovely and so much fun! "

We had a wonderful long weekend here spent exploring the area. The deck was a lovely place for morning coffee and pre-dinner conversation. We especially enjoyed all the butterflies we saw in the trees. The well-appointed kitchen was a pleasure to prepare meals in - and we enjoyed the shuffleboard game and the open living space.

"Beautiful home in the mountains surrounded by lush vegetation. We found Tara's Treehouse on a whim. Our teenage son had begged us to find a nice spot for a social distanced vacation before what is sure to be a stressful school year. Tara's Treehouse provided the tranquility we needed before the upcoming storm. Upon arrival we were in awe of the beauty of the house and surroundings. The mother bear and her cubs who showed up nightly provided better entertainment than any TV show could have provided. Watching her flip the bear can on its side was the cherry on top. Especially loved the wall of glass windows - it was spectacular! We had a very positive experience with Carolina Mornings and this property - we would recommend. 5-star cleanliness, furnishings and bedding - kitchen was well stocked."

What a perfect spot to spend a week with family. Beds and rooms were very comfortable and the deck and views are fantastic. We saw a double rainbow from the deck and watched mama bear and 3 cubs around the property. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

"We had the best trip. Bob-bob's turned 60. We played guitars. We drank coffee on the veranda. There was a baby deer & momma; and a bear that moved the trash cans. My great grandma hustled $$s from the family in shuffle board. We drove to Montreat & Mt. Mitchell & downtown AVL. We played & we loved. We smelled the sweet morning air and felt the cool afternoon rain. We smiled with the sun. I hope we come again. ""Understanding, Compassion, & Forgiveness"""

"This property delivers on a fantastic view of the mountains with a great outdoor sitting area. In this time of COVID, it offers seclusion and quiet. We greatly enjoyed our stay - 5-star Check-in, Cleanliness, and Communication. The kitchen is well equipped so you can take your own food and play some shuffleboard while dinner is cooking! The Blue Ridge Parkway is a short drive. We didn't find any private trails for hiking on the property which would have been nice. "

Thank you so much for having us our journey started at Ingles. We then proceeded to play games including Slinkeys and our hips danced i.e. we jam them with some musical flip cups. Sorted M&Ms. Got one person had to eat 120 M&Ms LOL. We karaoked and danced all night. The next morning bar hopped all day in the mountains where the beer hit harder. Tyger Mountain has a very friendly kid environment and educational. Thank you so much your house is lovely!!!

This was the perfect retreat to celebrate my 40th. Thanks to my husband for the special surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed the swings by the garage. So peaceful to enjoy a book or coffee there. The views are gorgeous and the orientation of the house perfect. The group loved the games provided after a fun afternoon at Cultivated Cocktails downtown. We look forward to coming back with our boys & dog. Thank you for having all the comforts of home here.

"This is one of the coolest Airbnbs I've stayed in. Standing in the living room, you really do feel like you are in a tree house. On our last morning, we saw deer in the yard while we drank our coffee. This was a great size for five people, and the kitchen had everything we could have needed."

"Two words that sum up my experience of this paradise retreat nestled high in the Blue Ridge: perpetual awe. From the moment I laid eyes upon this fascinating modern structure to the glee I experienced from entering and exploring the room to room aspect, it was the perfect place to unwind and heal from the stresses of everyday life. It is unexpected luxury meets serenity manifested. You have the seclusion and privilege of feeling like you are floating in a canopy of trees combined with sheer rustic glamor. There is attention to detail at every turn, from Appalachian inspired personalized painted art to automatic skylight shades to thoughtful interior design. It was the perfect setting to practice yoga on the elongated wrap-around deck while watching the sun rise over the mountains or bond with your loved ones. I felt one with nature, the birds, and trees. All of my cares and concerns just faded away. We sipped coffee in the morning as we rocked in handmade rocking chairs and sipped wine in the evening while watching a painted sky. The views were simply jaw-dropping. It is ideal for a brief weekend getaway, but I would recommend staying for an extended period of time because mark my words, you will not want to leave. My husband had to practically pull me away from Tara's Treehouse. My heart ached when I left! I hope that I'm lucky enough to return to one day soon. I would live there forever if I could. "

We had an amazing couples trip in Tara's Treehouse. The location and proximity to Asheville were beyond our expectation. You have to do the Land Rover Experience and the West End Segway tour if you go to the Biltmore. Asheville Adventures zip line and the Omni Grove Park in is awesome! Thank you for an amazing stay! Until next time.

"What a refreshingly unique place! I have rented all kinds of properties throughout the Asheville area and this house is so cool! Most of the stuff available are log cabins, which are great, but it's nice to finally have a more modern eco-friendly option. My group of 6 chose to stay here primarily due to it's proximity to some of the best mountain biking trails Asheville has to offer, Kitsuma and Green's Lick. As beautiful as Asheville and Blue Ridge is, we all could not wait to get back to the house at the end of the day. This house is smack dab in the middle of both so it only took about 20 mins to get to either. Coming up the road to the house we found an awesome little Amish market called Troyer's - some of the best sandwiches we've ever had! Also be sure to check out Nachos and Beer off the main road, really great/fresh Mexican food! Enough about food, the house was amazing. The driveway can be daunting but we drove several modified/lowered cars up no problem. The covered parking is nice and the yard is huge! As soon as you walk in the front door you really do feel like you are in a treehouse. The amount of natural light/the french sliding doors/the elevation are all awesome. Great views out overlooking the trees and mountains in the distance. The view from the corner of the living room is like looking straight down from a treehouse 50' high! The owner's did a great job with the furniture - they have created a very modern yet comfortable place where everyone was able to relax. We didn't want to leave! We all love to cook and found the kitchen to have absolutely everything we needed from pots to pans to nice knives/cutting boards and glassware. All of the appliances appear to be new and everything works great! We found ourselves split 50/50 between the living room and the patio, you really feel integrated with the property here. Every room had a TV and cable/Netflix/Hulu which was great. The living room has comfortable seating for 8 or 10, easily. The two downstairs rooms are perfectly comfortable for adult couples or kids and the downstairs bathroom is very nice. The master is very spacious with tons of natural light and closet space! The master bathroom is massive and the shower is incredible. Everyone in our group really loved this house, it's a great balance of practical modern style (love the concrete floors!) and comfort. Thank you for being so detail oriented and for the food suggestions, they were spot on! I think I've found my ""go-to"" place from now on in Asheville and am excited to book it again for a Fall trip to see the leaves change soon. "

"I had the opportunity to spend a few nights at Tara's beautiful home with a couple of friends and am already trying to find time in my schedule to make it back!! Tara's house is absolutely beautiful. Located at the very top of the mountain, it offers a degree of seclusion that many homes in the area simply don't. The master bedroom is located on the 2nd floor while the lower level has 2 extra rooms. My wife and I are quite picky when it comes to mattress comfort and both of us were pleasantly surprised to find new premium mattresses, which gave us an amazing night's sleep. The views offered through the floor to ceiling windows are fantastic! I can only imagine how beautiful the scenery would have come late Summer and Autumn. The kitchen is well-equipped and had plenty of cooking-ware and silverware to entertain guests. You owe it to yourself to cook breakfast, take it onto the beautiful deck, and enjoy a nice meal with friends whilst listening to the surrounding wildlife. Main Street Asheville is a mere 15 or so minutes away if you'd like to spend time in the town, popping in and out of its many cute shops and art galleries. I had an A+ stay and am confident you will too. Book without hesitation :) "

"***** (5 Stars) Thanks for my getaway from another boring hotel stay! I experienced Asheville by day and had this fabulous mountain house by night. Stylish home with great bedrooms, living space, and backyard fire pit. So peaceful and the home is beautifully decorated. Definitely booking again for my family this Fall!"
