Top 3 Favorite Pet Friendly Summer Activities

Top 3 Favorite Pet Friendly Summer Activities
A mountain getaway just isn't complete without your four legged best friend - especially in a super pet friendly city like Asheville, NC! The world is your oyster when it comes to choosing area activities for you and Fido, and to help you narrow down the options, we've put together a top 3 list of our favorite pet friendly summer activities! Read on for our suggestions about how to spend your vacation in the mountains!
1. A Walk and a Picnic at the Biltmore Estate
Heading over to the Biltmore Estate to explore and enjoy the grounds is a very popular area event, particularly during the summer season! The grounds themselves are pet friendly and have dozens of trails for you and your four legged best friend to stroll. Whiling away the summer hours at the Estate with our pups is truly one of our favorite ways to spend a leisurely afternoon, and we would love nothing more than to share that fun with all the dogs (and their humans too!) that travel to our gorgeous corner of the state. Pack a picnic, a bone, some refreshing summer beverages, and head on over to the Estate during your stay in the area - trust us, the perfect afternoon is waiting for you!
2. An Afternoon at The Wedge
The Wedge, located in the River Arts District, is one of our absolute favorite area breweries for a number of reasons. First off, the brew masters at The Wedge are geniuses that produce some really delicious concoctions. Secondly, the crowd there is positively charming - kindness and relaxed energy surround you at this place! And finally, the enormous outdoor area is pet friendly, open, well kept, and eclectic. It's really more like a social for dogs, with the humans playing the role of the tag-along! Plan on spending a few hours at this perfect summer spot - play some corn hole, grab a bite from one of the rotating food trucks, sip on some chilly summer drinks, and let your dog socialize with his friends!

3. A Waterfall Hike
Our area is famous for its National Parks, its blue mountains, and its waterfalls. What better way to beat the heat than to head out on a trek to find one of those crystal clear, ice cold, rushing falls? Most trails in the area are pet friendly and we've found that there is little more exciting for our our fur babies than an adventure in the woods with their humans. Ending it at one of nature's most beautiful and humbling sights? That's just an added bonus! Though there are hundreds of waterfalls from which to choose, one of our favorites right now is Rainbow Falls - a 100' waterfall located in Pisgah National Forest. The trail to the fall is about 2 miles, rated as moderate and very family friendly. To get to this waterfall, head over to Gorges State Park in Transylvania County. The hike begins in the state park but transitions into the national park about a quarter of a mile in. There is plenty of parking, admission is free, and there is even an ice cream stand on the hottest of hot days!
