The First Annual LEAF Downtown Asheville
Save the Date! LEAF will be celebrating its first ever festival in downtown Asheville on August 1st and August 2nd of this year! Read on to learn about this absolutely groundbreaking community event!
What is it?
LEAF Downtown is a smaller version of the very same LEAF Festival that brings in thousands of visitors to the Black Mountain area year after year. This is its inaugural year and the communities of Asheville have high hopes and a great deal of excitement for the event!
Where is it?
LEAF Downtown will take place over the course of the first two days of August in Pack Square Park. From 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the music will be pulsing through the heart of downtown, the vendors will be reaching out to the community, and the food trucks will be filling our bellies with some of the best food in Asheville.
What’s so special about it?
Well, LEAF always guarantees a good time but this event is particularly special for a number of reasons. Obviously, as the first LEAF festival to be hosted by Downtown Asheville, it’s particularly near and dear to our hearts. But to make it even better, this event is a totally free non-ticketed event!
What’s it all about?
As always, LEAF is about community. This particular festival will have more of a focus on local community but the mission remains the same: to celebrate creativity, diversity, and families. The intention is to further the goals of community partnership, inclusivity, and economic vitality within the greater Asheville area. By connecting cultures and sharing music and art, the Asheville community will be made stronger.
Who will be there?
Aside from thousands of community members and visitors, over 90 locally owned vendors will be highlighted at this event. Through a series of collaborative alliances with NC Arts Council, Green Opportunities, Asheville Music Professionals, and so many more, the event will sponsor enrichment activities and cultural exchanges. And because this is Asheville, there will also be an amazing lineup of musicians performing throughout the event. Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Empire Strikes Brass, The Main Squeeze, and so many more awesome bands will be serenading participants.
Can I stay local?
Of course! Carolina Mornings has dozens of beautiful rentals in the area, each one as unique as the next. For a truly local experience, check out Sallie Lee Cottage - a 2 bedroom, pet friendly Victorian home in the heart of Downtown. Not only will you be within walking distance of Asheville’s downtown amenities, you’ll enjoy the home’s historic feel and gorgeous craftsmanship.
