Tasting the Fruit of the Mountains: Gourmet Wine Trail Tour

The Fruit of the Mountains

Asheville is perhaps best known for its local beer and cider, but we have phenomenal wineries in these mountains as well.  For those who have yet to experience the majesty of these vineyards - and for those who know very well how spectacular they truly are - an upcoming tour is scheduled to show you the wines of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Read on to learn more!

The Gourmet Wine Trail Tour is scheduled for July 22nd.  Participants are to meet at the Westgate Regional Shopping Center, located at Westgate Parkway in Asheville NC 28806.  The tour vehicle, a very comfortable air conditioned coach bus, will be waiting to transport you to each of the three vineyards scheduled.

We’ve written before about the wineries in the area, and the three vineyards scheduled for this event are some of the very best in the area!  The first stop will be Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, a vineyard located in Hendersonville County and boasting 14 grape varieties grown at elevations of 2,300 and 3,000 feet.  Next up, Addison Farms Vineyard, a family vineyard situated on 55 acres in Leicester - a notoriously stunning area in the Asheville area. Closing the day will be Fontaine Vineyards - a vineyard also situated in Leicester and owned by a world class culinary chef and baker.

The Western North Carolina countryside is some of the most beautiful in the country. The rolling hills, the fields of wildflowers, the backdrop of blue mountains in the distance - all of these aesthetics come together to produce a kind of paradise. Visiting the area vineyards introduces you to that countryside in one of the best ways possible - that’s right, with a glass of delicious wine in your hands and the company of delighted participants.
