Experience the Best of Fall in the North Carolina Mountains at the Biltmore Estate

There's something about the changing season that invigorates the soul. An October vacation in the NC mountains means cool nights, cozy sweaters, and a chance to witness one of nature's most spectacular occasions. Visit Asheville's Biltmore Estate this fall and you'll be treated to the best views in the area and amazing discoveries at every turn.

An Exquisite Palette of Autumn Colors
The Biltmore Estate's 8,000-acre grounds come alive during fall thanks to trees with unusually striking colors that were planted over a hundred years ago when Frederick Law Olmstead landscaped the estate. Particularly vibrant hues can be seen on the Washington Hawthorns, Dawn Redwoods, and Japanese Maples. From any of the estate's many scenic vistas, breathtaking views capture autumn's display spreading out over the surrounding mountains.

Full Swing Fall Gardens
Mirroring the magical colors of the trees, the Biltmore Estate gardens fill up with thousands of mums every autumn. The walled Italian Garden provides the perfect backdrop for a romantic stroll. During October, A Gardener's Place offers free seminars to ticket holders. Learn how to make harvest wreaths, or study companion planting for fall with a master gardener.

New Renovations Unveiled this Fall
After years of preparation, the Biltmore Estate is opening two newly restored rooms to the public this fall. The Museum Services team has paid painstaking attention to details in the Second Floor Living Hall and the Salon, reproducing gilded sconces, Victorian era fabrics, and elaborate window treatments. Curators restored furnishings in the Second Floor Living Hall to the way they appeared when George Vanderbilt occupied the home, but the Salon is a new interpretation, considering the fact that the room was incomplete during Vanderbilt's lifetime.

Celebrate with Live Music Fridays
Kick off your vacation weekend with live music at Antler Hill Village. Every Friday through the end of October, a featured band plays on the village green as the sun sets behind the Blue Ridge Mountains. Depending on which weekend you visit, you'll enjoy the sounds of the Bruce Lang Band, Centerpiece Jazz, or Elliott and the Untouchables while wandering the shops and winery. A tour and wine tasting at the Antler Hill Winery is fun any day of the week!
