Enjoying Biltmore Blooms in Late May

Biltmore Blooms is wrapping up for the season, and the month of May is your last chance to experience the beauty! The event officially ends on May 25th, 2017, but between now and then, visitors to the Estate have the unparalleled opportunity to enjoy the explosive late-spring blooms all over the Estate! Read on for suggestions on how to enjoy the tail end of this beloved event.

What's in Bloom?
By the time May hits the Estate, the grounds are in full-color mode. Big, California poppies, bright and tall snapdragons, and delicate bursts of pansies adorn the Walled Garden, Estate Entry, and Winery Beds. The paths are lined with gorgeous natives like azaleas and rhododendrons, both boasting bright blooms in hot colors. As the month moves steadily along, summer annuals begin to show face and the summer-blooming roses grace the grounds with their sweet scent.

What to Do
Opportunities for fun at the Biltmore Estate are seemingly endless, especially during this dreamy season! We recommend packing a picnic to enjoy among the late spring/early summer blooms, followed by a slow stroll along the manicured paths. Or, renting a bike over in Antler Village is always a guaranteed good time! Finally, as the temperature begins to steadily peak around 75 degrees, the rivers and lakes warm up, making water sports an always viable option for fun. Rent a canoe, kayak, or stand up paddleboard at the Estate to enjoy the views from the serene vantage point of mid-lake.
