Drink in the Beer Culture of Asheville

Asheville is one of the best places in the world to experience the world of craft beer. Named Beer City USA four years in a row, Asheville has more breweries per capita than any other American city. What's the best way to experience this town's frothy libations? By taking a brew tour, of course!

Beer About Town

The Amazing Pubcycle is a great way to start your Beer City adventures. This 13-passenger pedal-powered vehicle takes you through downtown for either a 40- or 90-minute tour, rain or shine. Not up for pedaling? Make sure to grab one of the three non-pedaler spots on the back bench. The pubcycle is BYOB and they have a cooler on board to keep all of your beverages and snacks cool.

Another fun option for getting some exercise and checking out the downtown breweries is the Downtown Walking Tour with
Asheville Brewery Tours. Held on Fridays and Saturdays, these guided tours take you to some of the best downtown breweries - Wicked Weed, Green Man, Asheville Brewing Company and a couple of the newest in town, Hi-Wire and Burial.

Studio LexAfter a day of walking or pedaling around downtown, relax in the luxury of Studio Lex. This gorgeous loft is a wonderful place to regenerate before heading back out on the town to enjoy the nightlife. Once you've settled into this gorgeous vacation rental, you may decide you don't want to venture very far. Luckily, Studio Lex is close to everything. Just a few steps away, there's a fresh-poured pint or a growler to go from Lexington Avenue Brewery.

Visit Local Micro Breweries

If walking and pedaling doesn't sound appealing, jump on Asheville Brewery Tours Mobile Tour and check out some breweries outside the downtown area, including Highland Brewery in East Asheville and Pisgah Brewery in Black Mountain. Another fun option is to hop aboard the Oskar Blues Trolley every Saturday. With pick-up spots in both West Asheville and Downtown, you are never too far away from the delicious beers that await you in Brevard.

Altamont Brewery, Oyster House Brewery, and Urban Orchard Cider Company are all located in West Asheville and minutes away from City Retreat. A lovely home away from home, this modern three-bedroom vacation rental offers a gourmet kitchen, a bar in the basement, and back deck for sitting outside under the stars sipping a locally made brew.

When you stay at Studio Lex, City Retreat, or any Carolina Mornings vacation rental, you'll receive our complimentary Mountain Discovery Pass, which includes, among other activities, one admission ticket to the Biltmore Estate per night of your stay. While visiting the Biltmore Estate, take some time to check out Cedric's Tavern at Antler Hill Village. Named for George Vanderbilt's beloved St. Bernard, this tavern has the feel of a British pub and offers great local beers, including Biltmore Estate's own brews.

Asheville offers many opportunities to drink in the local beer culture. Carolina Mornings would love to help you plan your trip and find your home away from home.
