Father's Day in Asheville
Father's Day 2016 is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate the fathers in our lives! Asheville is the perfect vacation destination for those that want a prime combination of rugged, outdoor fun and modern, comforting amenities. Read on for some suggestions on how to celebrate the holiday in the Blue Ridge Mountains!
Wake up in Style
Staying in your own home away from home is key to creating a special holiday weekend in the mountains. This Father's Day, make a Carolina Mornings vacation rental your home base. Lone Pine Lodge, a rustic, gorgeous 1850's log cabin, is an out-of-this-world home with year-round mountain views. Best of all? You get the rustic charm with all the modern amenities that make a vacation complete - including a convenient location!
Head out to Brunch
One of our favorite ways to celebrate any holiday in the Asheville area is to eat delicious food prepared by our local culinary wizards. Treat your dad on Father's Day by taking him out for brunch! Most restaurants in the area will have some kind of brunch special in honor of dear old dad, and honestly, you really can't go wrong in choosing a destination. If you find yourself in the heart of Downtown Asheville, check out The Marketplace on Wall Street - they'll be running brunch specials on Sunday, June 19th, and trust us - the flavors here will blow your mind!
Take a Hike
Western North Carolina is famous for its hundreds of miles of trails, all ranging in difficulty. One of the best ways to experience the glory is to head up the Blue Ridge Parkway and choose a trailhead. Exploring Black Balsam Knob is a great adventure for a Father's Day celebration! To get there from the Blue Ridge Parkway, head up to milepost 420 and keep an eye out for the Black Balsam sign. If you continue on, you'll find the trailhead and plenty of space for parking. Don't forget your camera - the views are breathtaking!
Explore the Biltmore Estate
The Biltmore Estate is a wonderful day trip to take on Father's day - not only do they have hiking trails, biking paths, fishing, and horseback riding, but on Father's Day, fathers get in for free! Consider heading over to the Estate early in the day to hit all of the best activities available. We suggest grabbing a bite to eat in Antler Village - Cedrick's Tavern boasts local ingredients, home-brewed beverages, and some absolutely amazing chefs working behind the scenes to create delectable dishes.
