Common Questions From First Time Asheville Visitors
And because we want others to experience the joy without all the crazy, we’ve put together a little Q&A sheet to help the would-be travelers out there on their journey to Asheville.
Can we stay outside of the city?
Yes! Carolina Mornings has over a hundred cabins, cottages and condos from which to choose. Plenty of our offerings are just outside of the city limits, but still within an hour's drive to the heart of the city. Emerald Sky is an excellent choice for a family visiting with Fido. Or, for those of you looking for true seclusion, Hideaway Cabin is a stunning cabin located deep in the mountain wilderness. It’s a marvelous choice for a romantic weekend away or a quiet, get-back-to-nature kind of vacation.
If we bring the pup, will he have fun?
Asheville was recently voted one of the most dog friendly cities in the country! Asheville has hundreds of trails that are sure to tire out ol’ Spot and the city itself welcomes dogs with open arms. We even have the dog boutiques to prove it! In fact, this dog-friendly attitude is so pervasive in Asheville that we open our office doors to our four-legged friends.
It’s winter, what can we do for fun?
Although it is tempting to hibernate during the cold months, we resist the urge because the mountains hold a special kind of charm from December to March. Skiing at Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is an especially endearing activity for us – we just love those toast lodges at the end of a long day on the slopes! For the epitome of convenience, consider staying in one of our Scenic Wolf Resort cabins. And for those of you less interested in donning full on snow gear, try treating yourself to some unbelievably delicious hot chocolate in town, prepared by true connoisseurs.
We want to dance! Where can we go for live music?
We want to dance too! Luckily for all of us, Asheville is a "let your hair down and cut a rug” kind of town. The Orange Peel and Isis are a couple of our biggest venues – they attract some truly rad musicians who just love it when you dance. The Grey Eagle, Olive or Twist, and Lex 18 are some other options for those of you who prefer a smaller venue with the same punch as those bigger guys. Trust us, when it comes to live music, no small city does it better than Asheville, NC.
I’ve heard that Asheville has a great art scene, is that true?
Yes, it’s so very true! Asheville is vibrant, interesting and sometimes weird – it’s what makes this the best city in which to live. And a major contributor to those qualities is our emphasis on the arts. The River Arts District is home to dozens of amazing artists and performers – many of whom open their studio doors on a daily basis. Short on time but want to get a taste of some of the amazing creations coming out of these mountains? Woolworth Walk and Kress Emporium are two venues that allow travelers to see dozens of artists’ work all in one location. Mosey, absorb, enjoy – it’s art! There’s no wrong way to do it.
