View from Up High
Have you ever experienced the changing seasons from a hot air balloon? If not, add it to the list of must dos while visiting the Asheville area! We have several companies that offer the trips – each with decades of experience and state of the art, world class hot air balloons. An unforgettable adventure, the views from the basket will take your breath away. Experience the mountains from a whole new perspective!
Zipping Through the Trees
We’ve written before about ziplining in the mountains. No matter the season, ziplining can be a great time. We love running the routes in the fall because of the unique view of the changing leaves. We spend year after year looking up at the vibrant colors, amazed and humbled by the sights. To see them from up top, to look down at the miasma of color – it’s a memorable event, to say the least.
French Broad Ziplining, located in Madison County, is a fantastic company that offers stunning routes and amazing instructors. Best of all, Carolina Mornings guests are given one free adult ziplining pass as part of our Mountain Discovery Pass. Click here to learn more about the pass and to read our answers to Frequently Asked Questions!
Climbing to the Top
The Asheville area is a great place to be a climber. Not only do we have world class cliffs and boulders, but the scenery from the top is simply breathtaking. There are so very many options for those looking for a good climb – one of the best ways of finding the right route for you is to stop in to one of our rock climbing gyms (ClimbMax Climbing Center on Wall Street is fantastic) to speak to a professional.
Another option is to head over to Chimney Rock and spend a full day at the park. Rumbling Bald Mountain is a 1,100 acre collection of cliffs and boulders situated in the non-fee area of Chimney Rock State Park. It remains a sort of "hidden gem” here in the mountains, but is quite easily accessed.
Carolina Mornings has dozens of vacation rental homes in and around the Asheville area, each one boasting its own unique beauty. Luna Blue, located in Hot Springs, NC, is the perfect getaway for a small group. Situated on 75 private acres with rolling meadows and breathtaking mountain views, Luna Blue is an excellent home base from which to start your Autumn adventures.
