UNCA Art Fest: Sharing Art and Ideas with the Community
A Celebration of the Arts
If there is one thing Asheville, NC is known for, it's the art that pours from its citizens! Perhaps it's the stunning landscape that surrounds us, perhaps it's something in the water - whatever the source, our artists and musicians are amazing at what they do and we couldn't be more proud. To celebrate this thing that makes Asheville so special, UNCA is bringing us the UNC Arts Fest over the weekend of April 8th - April 11th. It will be a phenomenal gathering of truly interesting people and shouldn't be missed!
What It’s About:
UNCA Art Fest stands by a mission of creating community through creating art. The intention of the event is to cultivate creative and critical thinking by engaging with the audience over a variety of events and activities. This, in turn, is meant to foster community-mindedness. The event emphasizes resourcefulness, collaboration, and contribution. This unique dialogue between artist and audience will inform all aspects of the community in which we live - it will also, in turn, allow the community to explore avenues that it might otherwise be unable to pursue. It is, in every sense of the phrase, a powerful event.
What You’ll See:
In short, you’ll see nearly every kind of artistic expression. There will be several plays, including Almost, Maine - a play written by John Cariani and shown in the Carol Belk Theatre. There will also be several musical ensembles performing over the course of 3 days, A Poetry Slam showcasing both high-schoolers and University students, over a dozen lectures, dance performances, film screenings, workshops, and so much more! From Thursday, April 9th - Saturday, April 11th, UNCA will be a hotbed of creativity.
Where to Stay:
April is one of the most beautiful months to be visiting Asheville and a Carolina Mornings property is definitive proof of the majesty in these mountains. Peaceful Mountain Retreat, one of our newest listings, is a breathtaking 3 bedroom cabin situated in surrounding Asheville. A former artist’s residence, Peaceful Mountain Retreat is the perfect home to come back to after a day of revelling in the creativity at UNCA. For a smaller, more intimate property, Living Waters is a fantastic choice - particularly now that the trees are blossoming and the forsythia popping! Located in Hendersonville, Living Waters has convenient access to both downtown Historic Hendersonville and Asheville, which is just a brief 15-30 minute drive North.
