Top 4 Ways to Celebrate Autumn in WNC

Autumn in Western North Carolina is special in oh, so many ways! The changing leaves, the moderate temperatures, the comfort food, the festivals - the options for celebrating the season are limitless!  We at Carolina Mornings find it particularly easy to celebrate autumn in the mountains, and for those planning to visit in the coming months, we’ve put together this short list of our top 4 favorite ways to celebrate the season!

1.  Take A Drive

With the Blue Ridge Parkway twining around our fair city, scenic drives are a part of our cultural identity. The views are stunning no matter the season, but Autumn is a particularly special time to be out on the roads.  The weather is mild, making for safe travels. The temperature is moderate, making for a comfortable ride.  And the leaves are becoming a kaleidoscope of color, creating some of the most beautiful views of the year.

2.  Take a Hike

There are thousands of trails in and around the Asheville area - each one boasting its own special draw. It would be impossible for us to choose just a handful to feature here, but we have some suggestions in our Black Mountain Area Guide, our Mars Hill Area Guide, our Maggie Valley Area Guide, and our Hot Springs Area Guide.

3.  Sample the Goods

Asheville is Beer City for a reason - we are passionate about our brews and nothing gets us more excited than the seasonal concoctions that our brew masters think up at this time of year.  There are dozens of breweries from which to choose in the Asheville area and each one has a beer or a cider that will leave you speechless with delight. The best way to find out which one is your favorite is to sample, sample, sample. Happy sipping!

4.  Ziplining

Sure, we love the view of the changing leaves from ground level.  The way that the leaves twirl down through the air to land softly on the roads and sidewalks and forest floors makes us swoon.  But we also love a good thrill - and we’ve found that one of the best thrills in this corner of the state is a zipline canopy tour.  We’re pretty confident that the flashes of orange and red intermixed with the deep green of the Southeast will take your breath away too.

Stay Local

Renting a Vacation Home is the perfect way to bring your vacation in the mountains to the next level. Carolina Mornings has dozens of homes in and around the Asheville area, each one unique and beautiful. Luna Blue, one of our newest listings, is a breathtaking home in Hot Springs that boasts 75 acres of rolling meadows and mountain views. Guests will fall in love with the fully equipped kitchen and the sun soaked living areas.
