The Fringe Art Festival Returns to Asheville!

The Fringe Art Festival Returns to Asheville!

It’s time again for the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival to grace the community with it’s eclectic presence! Being Ashevillians, we love the weird, the wonderful, the off the wall, and the eccentric - so naturally, the Fringe Arts Festival is right up our alley.  For those who have yet to experience the fun, we’ve put together a little list of frequently asked questions. Read on to learn more!

What is the Fringe Festival?

Fringe Fest has been entertaining the Asheville community for 14 years and it is an almost indefinable event. The art is ever changing and evolving - boundaries are constantly being broken or bent. It takes place over the weekend of January 21st - 24th, but it really begins as early as January 16th with the opening kick off party at the Altamont Theater! There 20 performances set to happen over those 3 days, so it’s sure to be a jam packed weekend.

Which Shows Should I See?

We understand that 20 performances over the course of 3 days is a little much for just one person to see. That’s why, over the course of 14 years, the Fringe Fest has developed some very valuable suggestions for festival attendees. Planning your weekend begins with research! Fringe Guides will be distributed in the 2nd week of January and those guides will be vital to your planning process. Go through slowly, highlight the shows that really interest you. Once you have distilled down to the best shows for you and your party, choose your favorite three and stick to that list!

Where Can I Buy Tickets?

Tickets can be purchased in advance online. For last minute tickets during Fringe Week, pop into the LaZoom Ticket Booth at 14 Battery Park Ave - AKA, Fringe Central! You can also call Fringe Central at (828) 301-6363 to make sure that your chosen show isn’t sold out.  The booth will be open for Fringe business from January 18 - 23, from 12 Noon to 6:00 PM.
