Thanksgiving in Asheville, NC: Part I

Thanksgiving in Asheville

The Thanksgiving holiday is a very special time to be in Asheville, NC.  Our small city comes alive with holiday excitement and it is truly wonderful to be among so many amazing community members.  Visitors and locals alike can experience that joy by simply being present in Western North Carolina.  Part 1 of our 2 part Thanksgiving Special will explore some of the more classic ways to enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday - read on for some suggestions on how to spend the holiday here in the mountains.

Dining Out

Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate is a wonderful place to enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday - the grounds are expansive, the restaurants are amazing, and the staff is friendly and full of good cheer. The Deerpark Restaurant on the Estate will be hosting a Thanksgiving Buffet from 11:00AM - 4:00PM, The Bistro in Antler Village will have a Gourmet four course prix fixe menu from 11:30AM - 8:00PM, The Stable Cafe will have an a la carte menu available from 11:00 - 4:00PM, and Cedric’s Tavern will be serving their regular lunch and dinner menus from 11:00AM - 9:00PM.

Storm Rhum Bar

Storm Rhum Bar is located in Downtown Asheville in the up and coming South Slope neighborhood and is a fantastic place to grab a bite.  From 2:00PM - 8:00PM, Storm will be offering a 3-course prix fixe menu with Thanksgiving themes - the chefs are wizards with local ingredients, so this is definitely a great option for the foodies out there.  The bar will also be open until midnight.

Pack’s Tavern

Pack’s Tavern, located in the heart of Downtown Asheville, will host two Thanksgiving Buffets - complete with the turkey, the dressing, the trimmings, and - of course - pie.  A wide selection of beer will be available and it is super kid-friendly.

Shopping

Asheville Outlet Mall

While some prefer to enjoy the great outdoors after feasting on traditional Thanksgiving fare, others prefer the thrill of the hunt...for good deals!  The recently opened Asheville Outlet Mall will have plenty of Black Friday sales for those willing to brave the bustle.

Downtown Asheville

Downtown Asheville tends to become alive after holidays, as so many visitors and locals alike make their way to the local shops to peruse the wares. Black Friday in Asheville is a fun event in which to take part - the artists, musicians, chefs, baristas and more are all present to remind us that the local scene is always fashionable.

Staying In

With a fully equipped kitchen for creating sumptuous meals, Satellite TV for enjoying your favorite shows with your loved one, and a covered front porch for unwinding after a big Thanksgiving meal, Deer Run has everything you need to enjoy a quiet holiday in the mountains.
