Mother Earth News Fair: An Asheville Event
It’s true! The Mother Earth News team is bringing the knowledge to Asheville, NC and the surrounding communities. Over the weekend of April 11th – 12th, the fair will showcase hundreds of regional and national vendors who share a foundation of sustainable practices, products, and services. From artisan coffee roasters to landscaping companies with a passion for the environment to which they cater, the exhibitors will be sharing their hearts and souls with the communities of Western North Carolina. The Carolina Mornings Team is so excited for this event, we've put together this spotlight for visitors planning on attending.
The Best of the Best
There will be hundreds of companies represented at this event – each one as passionate about their craft as the next. With so many amazing businesses, we couldn't possibly showcase them all here, but here are a few that we are excited to talk to:
Buchi is a local company that concocts the most delicious kombucha we’ve ever had the privilege of tasting. Their business model is community centered and aims at continuing the ancient tradition of brewing living, probiotic rich beverages. Founded by women and worker-owned, Buchi Kombucha is a Western North Carolina All-Star company, of which we are immensely proud!
The Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP) is a powerhouse of education, agricultural promotion and community empowerment. Their mission is to help local farms thrive through the use of community connectedness, and thus, to promote a thriving local food economy. They are amazing at what they do and we couldn't be more grateful for their presence in the region.
Our own local seed company! Sow True specializes in open-pollinated, non-hybrid, and GMO-free seeds and through their work, the gardeners among us can rest easy knowing that what we’re growing and eating is safe for our bodies and minds. As an added bonus, Sow True Seed promotes local artistry by printing the creative works of our eclectic community members on the seed packets!
We could keep going – the landscapers! The beekeepers! The sustainable builders! The weavers and the sewers and the blacksmiths! To experience the full glory of the event, you’ll just have to show up.
What to Expect
You can expect more than 150 hands-on demonstrations and workshops given by the industry pros. Aquaponic Installation, Solar Installation, Homesteading how-tos – the Mother Earth News Fair will have it all. And if they don’t have it, you can be sure there will be someone to talk to off-stage about your hopes and dreams for a sustainable life.
