Memorial Day Weekend in Asheville: Part II

Memorial Day Weekend in Asheville: Part II

Last week, we wrote about a few of the exciting events planned for Asheville's Memorial Day Weekend, and this week, we thought we would put a spotlight on a few outdoor activities that deserve your attention as well! Read on for a brief introduction to three of our favorite ways to enjoy the Western North Carolina landscape.

Horseback Riding
The beautiful, rolling hills of Asheville bring thousands of visitors to the area every year - and in the late spring and early summer, our gorgeous landscape is on full display! One of our favorite ways to experience it is from horseback. Carolina Mornings and Sandy Bottom Trail Rides, located in beautiful Marshall, NC, have teamed up to make trail rides more accessible for our guests. We suggest going all in on the 3-hour ride - you'll see some of the most beautiful vistas in the area and get to explore a gem mine to boot!

Zipping Through the Trees
A zipline canopy tour is one of the most exhilarating ways to enjoy our landscape! Western North Carolina is a temperate rain-forest - during the late spring and early summer, our forests are a lush and vibrant combination of deciduous trees and conifers, with wild dogwoods springing up throughout, providing a splash of beautiful white blossoms. Carolina Mornings teamed up with French Broad Rafting and Ziplining to offer each reservation a complimentary adult ziplining tour as a way to help introduce you to this amazingly fun activity!

Enjoying the Lake Life
Watersports are a big part of our mountain culture! Whether you're interested in trying your hand at stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, or canoeing, this area has you covered. We love heading over to Lake Lure to enjoy a day on the lake over Memorial Day Weekend, and we're sure you will too. There are several great companies that offer boat rentals for a day on the water - we suggest bringing the whole family to enjoy the fun!

Stay Local
Staying local is key to fully enjoying the area, and staying in your own home away from home in the mountains brings your experience to the next level of comfort and convenience. Carolina Mornings has dozens of amazing Vacation Rentals in and around the Asheville area - each one unique! For a stunning 2 bedroom farmhouse located in Marshall, NC (just a short drive from Sandy Bottom Trail Rides and French Broad Rafting and Ziplining!), check out Still Rock Farms. This totally custom home is situated on a working farm dating back to the 1800's. You'll fall in love with the views from the covered porch, the 110 private and pristine acres, and the fully equipped kitchen!
