Live It Up This Fall at Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) in Black Mountain, North Carolina
Posted On Sunday, July 28, 2013
One of the hands-down best ways to experience the changing seasons comes annually at fall's Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF). Families, festival-lovers, and foliage seekers will all find a good time at the 600-acre site in gorgeous Black Mountain, North Carolina. From October 17-20, 2013, LEAF offers attractions ranging from live world music to handmade arts to puppet shows to fire dancing. A particularly kid-friendly festival, LEAF celebrates all things artistic and fun in an idyllic mountain setting.
Rock on with Your Bad Self
This year's music line-up includes a wonderful mix-up of tunes to move your dancing shoes. Get down to boogie woogie legend Dr. John & The Nite Trippers, Afro-pop soulstress Zap Mama, West African-born guitarist Vieux Fark Toure, and WNC's favorite bluegrass boys, Acoustic Syndicate, plus many more. There's romance in the air as acts perform lakeside with campfire reflections all around.
See the Super Cool Kid's Village
A large section of the festival grounds, including a performance stage, a craft tent, and a costume tent, are dedicated solely to kids' activities. It's truly unbelievable how much there is to do for the little ones: face painting, puppet shows, games, puppies, stilt parades, a kid's market, on and on. This fall's special feature for kids is the Toy Boat Circus Workshop series, including magic, juggling, trapeze arts, and even LED night hooping!
Sunup to Sundown Fun
Additional attractions at LEAF run the gamut from contra dancing to yoga, from canoeing to watching artists at work. There's certainly no shortage of things to keep you entertained! The Healing Arts Area will nourish your body and soul with workshops, massage, and tarot card readings. The lake offers opportunities to canoe, kayak, paddleboard, and zip-line. Fill up on international food and local food all prepared on-site, then shop to your heart's delight amongst over fifty artisans booths.
Autumn in Asheville
LEAF is a great excuse to visit the Asheville area! Autumn is coming and you won't want to miss the fabulous display of color. Take advantage of your time in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains by staying in a vacation rental cabin during LEAF. Black Bear Cabin and White Willow (shown here), both in Black Mountain, offer luxurious accommodations just a few miles away from the festival. They share the same road - if you've got a large group, rent them both! More nearby Asheville vacation rentals are Joyful Moments, Sunset Haven, and Carolina Roost, a brand new 3-bedroom home.
Carolina Mornings offers discount tickets to area attractions, personalized concierge service, and a complimentary Mountain Discovery Pass. Enjoying your own luxury log cabin is a terrific alternative to staying in an Asheville hotel!
