Lake Julian Festival of Lights

Lake Julian Festival of Lights

The Late Autumn/Winter season in the mountains brings with it plenty of opportunities for festive celebration! One of our favorite ways to celebrate the season is to seek out and enjoy the many and varied light shows that can be found all across Western North Carolina. One of the most anticipated shows, the Lake Julian Festival of Lights, is quickly approaching, and we couldn't be more excited! Read on for more information about this amazing event.

What to Expect
Lake Julian Festival of Lights takes place at the very popular county park at Lake Julian. Located in South Asheville - not far from Biltmore Park - the event has been a local favorite for 16 years. Each year, the event gets a little more elaborate and a little more festive, and we are just so excited to once again experience the fun!

The Festival begins on December 1st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a walking tour of the light show. Dubbed "Lights by the Lake Foot Tour", the opening day is the only time visitors will be able to walk through the event. We love the opening day because it's a such a unique and active way to engage in the event - the tour itself is only about a half mile, but it is perfect for families and visitors to the area looking to get a little exercise while enjoying the festivities of the season.

The next night opens the drive-through light show season. Spanning from December 2nd to December 23rd, every evening from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, visitors and locals alike can cruise along in their cars while a synchronized music and light show delights and enthralls. And best of all, visitors can take pride in the fact that 20% of all proceeds will be donated to Buncombe County Special Olympics, meaning you give back as you take in!
