French Broad River Festival Returns!

French Broad River Festival Returns!
Here in North Carolina, we love our festivals. Any excuse for a good party is fine by us! One of our absolute favorite local festivals is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited to attend! Read on for a brief introduction to the French Broad River Festival, slated to take place over the weekend of April 29th - May 1st.

What We're Celebrating
The French Broad River is at the center of so many mountain communities. Our river sports rely on it, our anglers fish its waters, and hikers fall in love with its beautiful white waves. The French Broad River Festival is an event meant to bring together all the many lovers and users of the River in one place to celebrate its beauty and its bounty. On Saturday, the heart of the festival will be a whitewater raft race - the biggest in the southeast and an enormous hill of fun! There will also be a Mountain Bike Race, plenty of local food and beverage vendors, a raffle, and a silent auction.

Where and When
The Festival will take place in Hot Springs, NC this upcoming weekend, April 29th - May 1st. Hot Springs is a historic town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, about 45 minutes north of Asheville. The Appalachian Trail (and the French Broad!) runs through the heart of the town and the people are just about the kindest folks around. General Admission Weekend Passes are $110 and children under 12 get in for free!

Why You Should Be There
This festival is a perfect example of the kind of love for nature that the people of Western North Carolina contain. From our rivers, mountains, valleys, and lakes springs our life and any opportunity to honor these natural amenities is embraced by all. This event is about loving the world around us and celebrating the communities and people that keep it clean, healthy, and beautiful. Over the many years that this festival has been taking place, over $150,000 has been donated to local charities like Manna Food Bank, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of WNC, Homeward Bound, and American Whitewater. Participating in the festival directly supports the organizations in our area that strive to uplift us all. Plus, over a dozen awesome bands will be gracing the 2016 stage, so plenty of good ol' fashion shoulder-shimmying fun will be had!
