Asheville Orchid Festival

Asheville Orchid Festival
The Asheville Orchid Festival is set to return over the weekend of April 15th - 17th and we couldn't be more excited to attend! Every year, the NC Arboretum is transformed by this event into a vivid paradise of color and scent and a hot spot for education and information! This year will be bigger than usual since it will also double as the National Spring Meeting for the American Orchid Society, so get ready to be awed and wowed at the gorgeous displays. Read on for a brief introduction to this gorgeous event.

What to Expect
This is a three day show, open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Admission is only $5, and children 12 and under are free, so this event is meant to be very accessible to the public. This is a juried show, so at the beginning of the festival, a team of American Orchid Society (AOS) members will evaluate the orchids and their displays. Any orchids deemed to be exceptional will be chosen for AOS judging and will be compared to other orchids of the same variety that have been judged in previous years. Awards will be given to winning recipients. But for the average attendee just looking to see some beautiful sights, this event will be more about the 100+ classes of orchids on display. We recommend arriving early so that you can also take advantage of everything else that the Arboretum has to offer, like miles of manicured hiking trails and beautifully planned outdoor gardens.

Staying Local
For those traveling from out of town to experience the majesty of this enormous orchid display, staying in a comfortable home away from home will bring this event to the next level of enjoyment. Carolina Mornings has dozens of amazing homes in and around the Asheville area, each one as unique and beautiful as the next (much like the orchids on display at the Arboretum!). For a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home located just a short drive from the North Carolina Arboretum, check out Rainbow Ridge. An authentic log cabin, Rainbow Ridge boasts a rustic yet tasteful personality with comfortable furnishings, a covered front porch, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private hot tub. Best of all, it sits in a super convenient location for accessing area amenities like the Biltmore Estate, Downtown Asheville, The Arboretum, and more.
