Asheville Beer Week Quenches Thirst for North Carolina Microbrews in the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mtns

Beer City USA celebrates its well-deserved title during the 2nd Annual Asheville Beer Week this May 25 through June 1, 2013. If eight days of non-stop beer-related events sounds like a good time, visit Asheville, North Carolina, to join like-minded enthusiasts at exclusive tastings, theme dinners, educational seminars, and, of course, fun social gatherings!

A Full Week of Fresh-tapped Pints
Supported by Asheville Brewers Alliance, Asheville Beer Week exists as a result of the exploding beer scene happening in Western North Carolina. Now home to literally dozens of microbreweries, with major players like Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, and Oskar Blues joining the scene, Asheville has gained a worldwide reputation as Beer City USA. It takes a whole week to really drink it all in, and most Beer Week events are free-of-charge! This is a fantastic opportunity for beer enthusiasts and homebrewers to meet and mingle amongst master brewers.

Highlights of Asheville Beer Week
Asheville's libation celebration culminates on June 1st with the Beer City Festival, but for the week before, there's so much going on you'll be a well-versed expert by the time it rolls around. The week begins on May 25th with the Just Brew It! Homebrew Festival at the Wedge Brewing Company, featuring over 200 different beers. Pairing dinners throughout the week include menus from local favorite restaurants Louella's Bar-B-Que, Wicked Weed, Jack of the Wood, Jack of Hearts, The Market Place, and Sunny Point Cafe. The LaZoom comedy bus will be hosting a tour that focuses on Asheville's beer history, and beer bars like Barley's Taproom, Westville Pub, and Thirsty Monk will tap their fair share of local froth.

Drinking for a Good Cause
On May 25th, Altamont Brewing Company will host a benefit to support the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, serving a dozen small batch and specialty taps. At week's end, on May 31st, the Asheville Rare & Wild Beer Tasting gives you the opportunity to buy a ticket in support of Pints for Prostates. Over twenty highly acclaimed breweries, including authentic rarities such as Haw River Farmhouse Ales, Jester King Craft Brewery, and Deschutes Brewery, present their most wild creations at this All About Beer Magazine sponsored event.

Top It Off with the Beer City Festival
A plentiful selection of microbrews and a big community party wrap up Beer Week at the 4th annual Beer City Festival. Join the June 1st festivities in downtown Asheville's Pack Square, where one ticket fee gives you unlimited access to dozens of beers from local and guest breweries. Asheville area participants include Pisgah Brewing Company, Lexington Avenue Brewing, Heinzelmannchen, French Broad Brewery, and Oysterhouse Brewing; welcomed out-of-towners include Brooklyn Brewing Company, Duck Rabbit Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Company, and Sweetwater Brewing Company. Plus, there'll be live music from Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Taylor Martin's Engine, and Jah Creation to keep your energy flowing!
