Art in Autumn: A Weaverville, NC Event
Exploring the smaller mountain towns surrounding Asheville is one of the best ways to experience a true mountain experience. Art in Autumn, an annual showcase of talent that takes place along Main Street in Weaverville, NC, is quickly approaching and it's a great way to get an introduction to both the historic town of Weaverville, and the the fabulous artists and craftspeople that base their work in the Southeast US. Read on for an introduction to this free festival!
 
When
Art in Autumn will take place this year on Saturday, September 17th, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This will be the 10th year of this great artist feature and over 114 artists will be showcasing their work. The event takes place rain or shine and it marks the start of the Autumn craft season in the mountains!
 
Where
Weaverville, NC is a small town located just 7 miles from Downtown Asheville. Over a dozen wonderful businesses are based here and the town itself is a charming example of our smaller mountain towns. The art festival will span the length of the main street and in addition to being given the opportunity to meet the fine artists running booths, there is the opportunity to explore the other more permanent galleries, shops, and restaurants.
 
What
Not only is this a showcase of local work, it is also a friendly competition among artists! The art will be judged by John Cram, owner of New Morning Gallery, Blue Spiral, and the Bellagio clothing stores in Asheville, NC. First, second, and third place prizes will be granted to the talented artists that showcase the best work that inspires everyday life.
