Leadership


Shari Goldstein, Chief Executive Officer & NC Real Estate Broker

Shari Goldstein is the Chief Executive Officer of Carolina Mornings. Shari started Carolina Mornings in 1997, then known as Asheville Cabins, as a part-time business in her house. It didn't take long for the business to grow into a full-time, successful business with over 80 properties, a full time dedicated team and 2 office locations. Shari's passion for integrity, accountability and professionalism make Carolina Mornings the unrivaled leader in Asheville vacation property rentals and management.

Shari graduated at the University of Michigan's School of Nursing and also holds a Masters of Public Health from UNC, Chapel Hill and has served in the Congo as a Peace Corp Volunteer. She is the mother of 2 beautiful teenage daughters and two four legged shadows, Curious and Jezzibel. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering in a myriad of venues from China to local farmers markets.

Shari is a member of the board of directors of the North Carolina Vacation Rental Managers Association.


 
Ginger Boyd, Chief Operating Officer & NC Real Estate Broker

Ginger Boyd is the Chief Operating Officer for Carolina Mornings. She began her career with the company in 2000 as a Vacation Specialist. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, Ginger remained at Carolina Mornings to offer her expertise in management and development. Soon after, she discovered her passion for real estate and furthered her education by becoming a real estate broker in 2007. Her contributions and progressive ideas have aided in the overall growth of the company, as she continues to bring innovation and creativity to the table.

Ginger lived in Asheville for a number of years and fell in love with the city's beauty and unique atmosphere, which coincided with her affinity for gardening and green living. She loves traveling, photography, attending live music shows, hiking, and spending time with her husband, 18-month old daughter, two Italian greyhounds, and German shorthaired pointer. She recently relocated to Nashville, TN from where she telecommutes part time and patiently awaits the arrival of her second child.


 
Gay Weber, Chief Marketing Officer

Gay Weber came to the Carolina Mornings team in July of 2012 as the Director of Sales and Marketing, and assumed the role of Chief Marketing Officer in 2015. He started his marketing career in the hospitality industry with Hilton Grand Vacations Club in 1998, serving as the operations manager for their west coast call center. Following the tragedy of Sept 11th, 2001, Gay left the Hilton family to serve in the United States Navy as a network administrator on-board a fast attack submarine. In 2007, he resumed his marketing career by joining Festiva Hospitality Group in Asheville, NC as their Director of Marketing Systems.

Gay's role as the sales and marketing leader at Carolina Mornings includes overseeing all aspects of sales, marketing, and customer service in the home office, located in downtown Asheville. He is excited to be on the team, and is continuously designing new marketing strategies and programs that will help take Carolina Mornings and Scenic Wolf Resort to the next level.

Gay loves Western North Carolina with a passion and enjoys spending his free time experiencing the mountains through his motorcycle, golf bag, fly rod, and tent. He can often be spotted around downtown Asheville with his best friend: a whippet-labrador mix named Buddy.

 

 
Katie Sundmacher, Director of Owner Relations & NC Real Estate Broker 

For property owners considering joining (or switching) property management companies, there is a lot to consider. Carolina Mornings provides a dedicated New Property Owner Coordinator to ease the transition by answering every question and looking at every detail to ensure new properties are brought into our family expeditiously and efficiently. Our process is simple and easy: interested property owners speak with Shari, the owner of Carolina Mornings. After this initial contact, Katie takes over and will personally walk them through the ins and outs of professional vacation rental management. Through the sharing of knowledge, insight, and experience, our new property owners find the process incredibly easy, comforting, and even fun! With many years of experience with Carolina Mornings, Katie is truly the best in the industry for anyone seeking to take their investment property to the next level!

Katie, an NC Real Estate Broker, is originally from Yorkshire, England where she attended Hotel School. She earned European hospitality industry experience in Monaco, France and the Netherlands, and then settled permanently in the US in 1994. She has been affiliated with Real Estate development, construction and estate management from Aspen, Colorado, Taos, New Mexico and Jupiter Island, Florida.

Katie spends her free time dog training, hiking, scuba diving and dining out at the diverse array of local Asheville restaurants.

 


Ashley Swanger, Regional Director of Property Operations

Ashley came to the Carolina Mornings Team in August 2016 as a licensed NC Real Estate Broker with a background in supply chain management and strategic business planning. She earned a BS in Business Law from Western Carolina University and an MBA from Montreat College. She is also a Certified Supply Management Professional (CPSM). Ashley brings many years of experience in long range business planning and strategic goal deployment as well as team development to help exceed guest expectations and service levels. She looks forward to putting these skills to work for each guest as part of the Carolina Mornings Team. Ashley is a native of Western North Carolina and lives in Asheville with her family. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her 6 year old son and family, hiking, running, camping, gardening, reading and soaking in all the beautiful city of Asheville has to offer.  

 
 
  

Shelley Hughes, Director of Housekeeping Services

Shelley has been a part of the Carolina Mornings Team since August 2013.  She and her son Owen, along with their four rescue dogs and two cats, are residents of Asheville, NC. When she's not making sure that the Carolina Mornings Team is functioning smoothly, Shelley can be found meandering around Asheville - always on the look out for new and exciting music to explore.  

 
 
 
 

 

Vacation Planners

 
Stephanie Gold, Reservations Manager

Stephanie Gold has been with Carolina Mornings since 2009. A true local who was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, she has over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has served as manager for several local fine-dining establishments.

She is passionate about connecting with people from all walks of life. When not at work, Stephanie loves spending time with her amazing son and boxer-mix dog. She loves exploring the local culinary scene as well as cooking, shopping for fresh local ingredients, traveling, reading, wine-tasting, yoga and fitness, and experiencing music, art, and cultural festivities. 



 

Shifra Nerenberg, Reservations Coordinator

Shifra Nerenberg has been with Carolina Mornings since 2011. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Shifra moved to WNC in 2000 from Tampa, FL. Shifra has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women's Studies from the University of North Carolina Asheville. She loves being able to call Asheville home because of its vibrant local community and beautiful natural surroundings.

Shifra is an avid reader of science-fiction/fantasy novels and also reads tarot cards at festivals and for private clients. When she is not helping guests experience all that Asheville has to offer, she enjoys being an aunt to her amazing nieces and nephew, and watching her cat's feline antics at play.



 
Carmen Ybarra, Vacation Planner & Marketing Coordinator

Carmen Ybarra moved to Asheville from San Diego in 2012 with her 15-year-old and her cat. She attended the University of California at San Diego, where she studied philosophy and psychology. Before moving to Asheville, she taught spiritual enrichment, photography, and Spanish to children (Spanish is her first language). An avid photographer with a special interest in using old film cameras, her work has been shown in galleries both here and abroad. In addition to the time she spends working with the Carolina Mornings Team, Carmen works with a local Non-Profit and enjoys spending time with her son.



 
 
Zoe Shevack, Vacation Planner

Zoe has been a devoted member of the Asheville community since March of 2012. After long spells in the Food and Beverage and Event Coordination Industries, she made her way to Western North Carolina from Philadelphia to expand her knowledge of the Wine Industry. After working as a Wine Representative with a local distribution company, and receiving her certification as a level one Sommelier, Zoe switched gears to begin work as a Culinary Tour Guide. It is this position that she credits with helping her to realize how much she enjoys sharing her love of the local music, art, food, and fun in Asheville. She enjoys spending time in the Blue Ridge Mountains and being an active part of the karaoke community.

 

 

  

Andrea Wilson, Vacation Planner

Originally from Sunrise, FL, Andrea fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains after visiting friends and family in the area. She moved to Asheville in April of 2016 with her husband and 3 year old son. Since relocating, Andrea and her family have embraced our local Appalachian attitude, vibrant outdoor culture, and laid back mountain lifestyle. When she's not helping visitors to the area craft the perfect vacation, Andrea loves to go hiking and camping. She's passionate about painting, sketching, and reading and can often be found exploring Downtown Asheville.



 


Property Management

 
Jonathon Young, House Manager

Jonathon Young is a House Manager and Assistant Maintenance Technician at Carolina Mornings. He was born in the Philippines and grew up on the Pacific island of Guam. Prior to his employment at Carolina Mornings, Jonathon was employed as an electrician. He enjoys music, reading, and spending time with his kids.

 


 



Robert Meyers, Maintenance Specialist

Robert Meyers has been a member of the Carolina Mornings Property Maintenance team since April of 2010. A native of Virginia and a graduate of Virginia Tech, Robert has a BS in Forestry. In addition to being a handyman and fixer of all things broken, he is an accomplished woodworker and carpenter – many of his pieces can be found in and around the Carolina Mornings office.

 

 



Administrative

 
Caroline Mercurio, Administrative Coordinator

Caroline Mercurio has been Administrative Coordinator for Carolina Mornings since 2011. A native North Carolinian, she first fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains while studying at Appalachian State University. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in Writing from Vermont College and has taught writing at several colleges, including Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC. She lives in North Asheville and hikes the trails of Pisgah National Forest as often as possible!




 
Dana Carrico, Business & HR Coordinator

Dana Carrico joined the Carolina Mornings Team in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant. Before discovering the magic of the Blue Ridge Mountains, she attended university in the Hudson Valley where she earned a degree in both Philosophy and English Literature. She’s been happily living in Marshall, NC with her two best friends – a Catahoula named Kudra and a Hound named Tigerlilly - since 2012. When they’re not playing in the woods, they can be found enjoying the local culture and music in both Asheville and Downtown Marshall.
